Welcome to the NGC 6440 reddening calculator. This tool allows you to obtain the colour excess E(B-V) along the line of sight of NGC 6440, in cells of 0.5'' x 0.5'' each, for a total field of view of about 160'' x 240'' (see Pallanca et al. 2019, ApJ, in press).

Just insert the RA and Dec coordinates of your point of interest and then click the 'Calculate' button, or upload a file with the coordinates in the first two columns. Input format for coordinates is in degrees and the columns in the file are expexted to be separated by a comma.

The suggested value to be used is the result of method 1 (left panel), while method 2 (right panel) may be used once the value from method 1 is not available (e.g. in the North-West portion of the field of view). See paper for more details abouts the two methods.
